Commit Recap: Playoff pushes

A handful of Irish commits have finished their careers while others will push on into the playoffs. Irish Illustrated wraps up the weekends of Notre Dame’s commits still in action.

Robert Beal ‘17
Norcross (7-2) got shut out by Mill Creek for a second straight year, this time falling 24-0 as Beal and the defense couldn’t offset an offense that crossed midfield just once.

Ian Book 
Book went 18-of-30 for 200 yards and one touchdown to go with 25 carries for 78 yards and another two scores, but Oak Ridge (8-2) fell 35-21 to undefeated Folsom, which has won 40 consecutive regular season games.

Parker Boudreaux 
Boudreaux and Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore (9-0) defeated Eustis, 56-0. Bishop Moore will play undefeated Lake Brantley (11-0) next week.

Chase Claypool
Claypool threw one touchdown pass and caught another but cramps limited him most of the game. Abbotsford (B.C.) dropped to 3-1 after a 23-22 loss to Graham.

Liam Eichenberg 
St. Ignatius (5-4) closed its season with a 35-28 loss to rival St. Edward on Saturday.

Jalen Elliott 
Elliott completed 9-of-12 passes for 134 yards with one touchdown and rushed for another as L.C. Bird (9-0) cruised to a 55-0 win over Huguenot.

Dillan Gibbons '17 
Tampa (Fla.) Northside Christian (8-1) lost its first game of the season to Admiral Farragut (8-1). Northside Christian will have a bye next week before entering the playoffs.

Jamir Jones 
Penn State commit Jake Zembiec accounted for two touchdowns in leading Aquinas (9-0) to a 21-14 win over Hilton in the AA semifinals on Sunday.

Tony Jones Jr.
IMG Academy (8-0) defeated Eastern Christian 50-16. Jones had touchdown runs of 25 and 30 yards. IMG’s season is over, as it does not play for a state championship.

Khalid Kareem
Kareem bowed out of the playoffs as Harrison (7-3) took a 10-0 loss to Groves in the first round.

Tommy Kraemer 
Kraemer set a school record with 23 pancake blocks for Elder (7-3) in a 21-7 win over LaSalle. The Panthers earned a share of the Greater Catholic League South Division title.

Julian Love 
Love ran for a touchdown as Nazareth Academy (8-2) broke out in the third quarter en route to a 38-6 win over Sycamore in the Illinois Class 5A playoff opener. Nazareth faces Solorio Academy (6-4) this week.

Josh Lugg '17 
Lugg recorded 18 pancake blocks for North Allegheny (7-1) in a 38-10 win over North Hills.

D.J. Morgan 
St. John Bosco (9-0) played from behind for the first time this season in a 31-12 win over Orange Lutheran on Thursday.

Julian Okwara 
Charlotte (N.C.) Ardrey Kell (5-4) got blown out 42-9 by Charlotte Catholic. It will play its last regular season game next week against South Meck (8-2).

Spencer Perry 
IMG Academy (8-0) defeated Eastern Christian 50-16. IMG’s season is over, as it does not play for a state championship. Perry will enroll at Notre Dame for the second semester.

John Shannon 
Shannon didn't play linebacker but did long snap for Loyola Academy in a 31-0 win over West Aurora to open the Illinois Class 8A playoffs. Loyola (10-0) gets Lincolnshire Stevenson (7-3) in the next round.

Kevin Stepherson 
Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast (1-7) fell to Columbia, 31-12. Stepherson, who will enroll early, and First Coast will play their final game of the season next week vs. Jackson (0-10).

Donte Vaughn
Vaughn returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown and Whitehaven (9-1) rolled to a 41-14 win over Cordova. Whitehaven had four pick-sixes in the game.

Brock Wright '17 
Cy-Fair (5-4) dropped its second straight, falling 26-10 to Cypress Ranch. Wright’s regular season comes to a close next weekend.
