Notre Dame Commit Recap: Playoff Push Continues

Four more Irish commitments had their seasons come to a close this weekend while 11 more will play on. Get full weekend results from every Notre Dame commitment.

Robert Beal ‘17
Beal's season is done as Norcross lost 20-14 to Cumming South Forsyth (10-1) in the first round of the Georgia Class 6A playoffs. Norcross finished 7-4, dropping its final four games.

Ian Book 
Book led Oak Ridge to a 35-14 win over Monterey Trail (5-6) in the first round of the San-Joaquin (Calif.) Section Division I playoffs. Book had 232 yards and one touchdown on 17-of-20 passing. He rushed seven times for 42 yards and one touchdown. Oak Ridge (9-2) takes on Consumes Oaks (8-3) next at home.

Parker Boudreaux 
Orlando Bishop Moore (10-1) defeated Melbourne Palm Bay (8-3) 38-7 in the regional quarterfinals of the Florida Class 5A playoffs. Bishop Moore faces on Mustang Way Merritt Island (8-3) this week.

Chase Claypool
Abbotsford (B.C.) defeated Pitt Meadows 58-8 in the first round of Double A playoffs. It travels to undefeated John Barsby this week.

Jalen Elliott 
Matoaca scored a touchdown on its opening drive but L.C. Bird ran away with a 42-6 win from there. Bird plays Hermitage in the second round of the playoffs on Nov. 20. Elliott threw a touchdown pass, picked off two passes, broke up two others and had four tackles.

Dillan Gibbons '17 
Tampa Northside Christian (8-2) saw its season come to an end with a 19-14 loss to undefeated Cambridge Christian in the Florida Class 2A playoffs. Gibbons attended Notre Dame’s home finale against Wake Forest.

Jamir Jones 
Aquinas Institute (10-0) advanced to the AA semifinals with a 42-7 win over Orchard Park on Sunday. Jones had an interception in the win.

Tommy Kraemer 
Elder (9-3) crushed Hilliard Darby, 41-13, to advance to the third round of the playoffs for the first time since 2009. Kraemer helped Elder rush for 209 yards with two touchdowns on their first six possessions.

Julian Love 
Nazareth Academy (10-2) marched into the Illinois Class 5A semifinals with two touchdowns from Love in a 35-21 win over Joliet Catholic Academy. Love had 111 rushing yards with a 77-yard touchdown plus 95 yards receiving and a 66-yard scoring catch. He added six tackles-for-loss from the defensive secondary.

Josh Lugg '17 
Lugg played with a broken left hand as North Allegheny (9-2) came up short in a 31-17 loss to Pittsburgh Central Catholic in the WPIAL Quad A playoffs on Friday.

D.J. Morgan 
St. John Bosco improved to 11-0 with a 72-7 win over Corona in the first round of the playoffs and now plays Loyola in the second round on Friday. Morgan visited South Bend for the home finale.

Julian Okwara 
Okwara helped Charlotte Ardrey Kell (7-5) pull a 16-9 upset of South Meck in the first round of the North Carolina Class 4A playoffs. South Meck beat Ardrey Kell last week 51-24 last week to finish the regular season. Ardrey Kell travels to No. 2 seed Cornelius Hough (11-1) next for the second round.

John Shannon 
Shannon kept his playoff ride alive as Loyola Academy took a 34-28 win over Homewood-Flossmoor in the Illinois Class 8A quarterfinals. Loyola (12-0) get Palatine (10-2) this week in the semis.

Donte Vaughn
Vaughn got a boost from his offense as Whitehaven running back Kylan Watkins rushed 24 times for 361 yards and three touchdowns in leading the Tigers (11-1) to a 39-21 win over Mount Juliet in the first round of the 6A playoffs.

Brock Wright '17 
Wright’s season ended in the first round of the playoffs as Cy-Fair (6-5) fell 36-28 to Eisenhower.
