Notre Dame in the NFL: Week 16

Harrison Smith returned to the starting lineup and had an interception return for a touchdown to lead former Notre Dame players in the NFL this week.

Robert Blanton - safety - Minnesota Vikings

Blanton played a reserve safety role for Minnesota (10-5) in a 49-17 win over the Giants. He made two tackles and returned one kick for 27 yards.

Sergio Brown - safety - Jacksonville Jaguars

Brown has been moving down the depth chart in recent weeks and didn’t make a tackle as a reserve for the Jaguars (5-10) in a 38-27 loss to New Orleans.

David Bruton - safety - Denver Broncos

Denver put Bruton (broken fibula) on injured reserve ahead of its 20-17 win over Cincinnati. Bruton won’t play again this season as the Broncos (11-4) head to the playoffs.

Braxston Cave - center - Detroit Lions

Cave remains on the practice squad. Detroit improved to 6-9 with a 32-17 win over the 49ers.

Jimmy Clausen - quarterback - Baltimore Ravens  

Clausen gave way to Ryan Mallett after losing consecutive starts and wasn’t active for Baltimore (5-10) in a 20-17 win over Pittsburgh.

Tyler Eifert - tight end - Cincinnati Bengals

Eifert (concussion) didn’t play for the second straight week as the Bengals dropped to 11-4 with a 20-17 loss at Denver.

Anthony Fasano - tight end - Tennessee Titans

Fasano made two catches for 21 yards on seven targets as Tennessee dropped to 3-12 with a 34-6 loss to Houston.

Darius Fleming - linebacker - New England Patriots

Fleming was an active reserve linebacker for New England (12-3) in a 26-20 loss to the Jets.

Michael Floyd - wide receiver - Arizona Cardinals

Carson Palmer targeted Floyd eight times as the Cardinals (13-2) rolled to a 38-8 win over Green Bay in a battle of playoff teams. Floyd turned those chances into a team high six receptions for 111 yards.

Jonas Gray - running back - Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville signed Gray off the Miami practice squad after rookie starter T.J. Yeldon went down with a knee injury. Gray had five carries for 31 yards in the loss.

Ryan Harris - offensive tackle - Denver Broncos

Harris started at left tackle for Denver in its win.

Bennett Jackson - safety - New York Giants

Jackson is on injured reserve while recovering from a torn ACL. The Giants dropped to 6-9 with a 49-17 loss to the Vikings.

J.J. Jansen - long snapper - Carolina Panthers

Jansen suffered his first loss of the season as Carolina (14-1) fell to Atlanta, 20-13.

TJ Jones - wide receiver - Detroit Lions

Jones made the most of his one target, reeling in a 29-yard touchdown in the second quarter to give Detroit a 10-7 lead. It’s the first touchdown for Jones in his NFL career.

Ben Koyack - tight end - Jacksonville Jaguars

Koyack remains on the Jacksonville practice squad.

Kapron Lewis-Moore - defensive end - Baltimore Ravens

Lewis-Moore was inactive for the Ravens win.

Zack Martin - offensive guard - Dallas Cowboys

Martin started at right guard from Dallas (4-11) in a 16-6 loss to Buffalo.

Troy Niklas - tight end - Arizona Cardinals

Niklas saw special teams duty and was a reserve tight end for Arizona in its win.

Louis Nix - defensive tackle - New York Giants

Nix is on the Giants practice squad.

Theo Riddick - running back - Detroit Lions

Riddick had seven carries for 20 yards plus seven receptions for 63 yards in the Lions victory.

Cody Riggs - cornerback - Tennessee Titans

Riggs made on tackle for the Titans in their loss.

Trevor Robinson - center - San Diego Chargers

Robinson started at center for San Diego (4-11) in a 23-20 loss to Oakland.

Kyle Rudolph - tight end - Minnesota Vikings

Teddy Bridgewater targets Rudolph three times, resulting in two receptions for 53 yards. Rudolph caught a 28-yard touchdown to put the Vikings up 10-0 in the second quarter.

Kona Schwenke - offensive tackle - Seattle Seahawks (IR-ACL)

Schwenke is on injured reserve as he recovers from a torn ACL. Seattle dropped to 9-6 with a 23-17 loss to St. Louis.

Smith returned to the starting lineup after a couple weeks out with a hamstring injury. He had five tackles, a pass breakup and an interception return for a touchdown. Smith picked off Eli Manning in the second quarter and returned it 35 yards to give Minnesota a 16-3 lead.

John Sullivan - center - Minnesota Vikings

Sullivan (back surgery) is on the injured reserve designated to return list, although his ability to get back on the field this season is in doubt after a second procedure following a rehab setback.

Golden Tate - wide receiver - Detroit Lions

Tate made four catches for 59 yards on five targets in the Detroit win.

Manti Te’o - linebacker - San Diego Chargers

Te’o had six tackles and one tackle-for-loss in the Chargers loss.

Justin Tuck - defensive end - Oakland Raiders

Tuck (pectoral) is on injured reserve. Oakland moved to 7-8 with a 23-20 win over San Diego.

Stephon Tuitt - defensive end - Pittsburgh Steelers

Tuitt made six tackles for Pittsburgh (9-6) in a 20-17 loss to Baltimore.

Darrin Walls - cornerback - New York Jets

Walls was an active reserve and special teams player for the Jets (10-5) in a 26-20 win over New England.

Chris Watt - center - San Diego Chargers

Watt is on injured reserve.

Ian Williams - defensive tackle - San Francisco 49ers

Williams had six tackles (five solo) and a pass defensed for San Francisco (4-11) in a 32-17 loss to Detroit.

Cierre Wood - running back - Buffalo Bills

Wood is on injured reserve after suffering a torn ACL. Buffalo moved to 7-8 with a 16-6 win over the Cowboys.

Sam Young - offensive tackle - Jacksonville Jaguars

Young was an active reserve for Jacksonville again this week.
