Five-star linebacker Ben Davis hasn't seen the last of Notre Dame in his recruitment.
Head coach Brian Kelly will be among the staff members on hand next Thursday for a final in-home visit before National Signing Day, the five-star linebacker told Irish Illustrated. Linebackers coach Mike Elston and area recruiter Autry Denson stopped in Gordo, Ala., to visit Davis on Wednesday.
Davis used his third official visit to see Notre Dame last week, emerging from the trip with the Irish making a move but still trailing other suitors.
“Notre Dame definitely helped themselves,” Davis told Irish Illustrated after the trip. “They were toward the bottom of the list but now they’re definitely in my top three. Like I said, I definitely had a great time. I learned a lot. It’s way nicer than I thought. I’ve got a whole different perspective on Notre Dame right now.”
Davis went on to reveal Georgia leads and Alabama is the other member of his top three. He’s taken official visits to Georgia and LSU. Alabama will play host this weekend while Auburn gets the final visit.
After all the visits, Davis will announce plans to announce his decision on National Signing Day.
Scout.com ranks Davis No. 11 overall in its latest rankings and No. 1 at inside linebacker. He’s one of four linebackers the Irish continue to chase along with five-star Caleb Kelly, four-star Jeffrey McCulloch and three-star Jonathan Jones.
All four are expected to make National Signing Day announcements.
