Commitment Schedule: National Signing Day

Check out the schedule of who’s committing and when for National Signing Day as four linebackers plan to make announcements with Notre Dame in play.

Five-star linebacker Ben Davis begins a full slate of National Signing Day announcements that will have Notre Dame’s interest.

Three more linebackers will follow in three-star Jonathan Jones, four-star Jeffrey McCulloch and five-star Caleb Kelly to round out the evening. How the class closes out will be revealed as the day moves forward.

Five-star athlete Demetris Robertson remains the biggest signing day question mark. Robertson plans to hold off on signing in order to visit Georgia this coming weekend. Notre Dame would like to see him sign before that trip happens, even though that’s not in the family’s plans right now. Could another unexpected turn happen in this recruitment? We’ll see.

Irish Illustrated has the schedule, including times and live streams. All times Eastern.

Ben Davis - inside linebacker - Gordo, Ala.

Time: 10 a.m.
Network/stream: ESPNU
Finalists: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Notre Dame

Rundown: Davis is an Alabama legacy and moved the Tide into the pole position after an official visit a couple weeks ago. Notre Dame remains in the running and has made things somewhat interesting down the stretch — Brian Kelly’s in-home visit and a visit by the equipment truck helped — but most expect Alabama to win out.

Jonathan Jones - inside linebacker - Orlando, Fla.

Time: 10:30 a.m.
Finalists: Michigan, Notre Dame

Rundown: Jones has quietly become the surest thing to a Notre Dame pledge among the National Signing Day announcements. Michigan is the other finalist but has been taking more linebackers, likely a signal that Jones ends up Irish.

Jeffrey McCulloch - outside linebacker - Houston, Texas

Time: 11:30 a.m.
Network/steam: ESPNU
Finalists: Notre Dame, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M

Rundown: Probably the least likely to fall Notre Dame’s way and that’s saying something with Davis on the board. Texas has been trending for McCulloch lately after it seemed like a Notre Dame-Texas A&M battle earlier in the process. If McCulloch had announced at the Under Armour All-America Game last month as he first planned, he might be in Notre Dame’s commitment column.

Caleb Kelly - outside linebacker - Fresno, Calif.

Time: 8:30 p.m.
Finalists: Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon

Rundown: It’s really down to Notre Dame and Oklahoma, as it has been for a few Fresno products over the last few years. Notre Dame made a push as of a couple weeks ago. Now it seems Oklahoma, the longtime favorite, has snatched the momentum back.
