Notre Dame Predictions: Final Edition

The Irish Illustrated recruiting team makes one final round of predictions for the five targets left on Notre Dame’s board. Can Brian Kelly’s program hit a home run to close the class?

Brown: Alabama
Confidence: High
Yeah, he’s had other leaders throughout the process and I think his interest in the Irish is real. But let’s be serious, Nick Saban isn’t going to miss on a legacy with Davis’ talent, period. Alabama will make Davis part of its typical strong close.

Hare: Alabama
Confidence: High
Both parents attended Alabama and it’s the in-state school. That’s a trifecta and all I need to consider this one a lock.

Hickey: Alabama
Confidence: High
An Alabama legacy that’s a priority target for Nick Saban. Notre Dame showed well, but it would be a major upset if he ends up anywhere other than with the Tide.

Brown: Notre Dame
Confidence: High
While Notre Dame has been duking it out for five-star prospects, Jones has quietly represented almost a sure get come National Signing Day. Mike Elston has done a nice job helping the Irish surge past Michigan.

Hare: Notre Dame
Confidence: High
Mike Elston’s efforts put Notre Dame in a very good position to land Jones’ signature on Wednesday.

Hickey: Notre Dame
Confidence: High
Jones has favored Notre Dame over Michigan since December. The Irish will land a versatile linebacker that’s been high on their board for most of this cycle.

Brown: Oklahoma
Confidence: Low
Not so long ago, Notre Dame seemed to have moved past Oklahoma as the favorite. That’s how quick things can change in the lead up to National Signing Day. Now it seems the Stoops brothers have reworked the momentum in their favor when it really matters.

Hare: Oklahoma
Confidence: Low
The only choices we have to list for our confidence level is high, medium or low. None of them do justice for how little confidence I have in Kelly picking Oklahoma over Notre Dame, but that’s the bet if I’m forced to put down a wager.

Hickey: Oklahoma
Confidence: Low
The Sooners have recruited him longer, and it’s the “reliable” choice in his mind. Mike Stoops got the last in-home visit.

Brown: Texas
Confidence: Medium
Way back when, Notre Dame seemed to be hunting down Texas A&M. Now it appears more and more likely McCulloch ends up at Texas in the end. Strong get (see what I did there?) by the Longhorns if that’s the way it happens.

Hare: Texas
Confidence: Medium
All signs continue to point toward McCulloch staying in-state and signing with the Longhorns.

Hickey: Texas
Confidence: High
The Longhorns sealed the deal on his official visit to Austin. Playing for the in-state powerhouse won out in the end.

Brown: Notre Dame
Confidence: Low
Probably boils down to when a decision comes. If the process really does go far past signing day, it’s probably good for Georgia. But this recruitment has been unpredictable if nothing else. I’ll stick with Notre Dame but it’s essentially a stab in the dark.

Hare: Notre Dame
Confidence: Medium
I’m feeling better about Notre Dame’s chances of signing Robertson, whenever that may occur.

Hickey: Georgia
Confidence: Low
If Robertson signs tomorrow, I feel confident in saying that it’ll be Notre Dame. But I don’t think that’ll be the case. A mid-Februrary decision is the target decision date, and an official to Georgia is still planned.
