Irish Still High on Lyle's List

Hubbard high school in Chicago, IL has quite a few top prosects for 2003. One top prospect is Nate Lyles. The 6-0, 185-pound corner prospect camped at Notre Dame this summer and received an offer from the Irish. Lyles also attended a few other camps and received offers. Where do the Irish stand with Lyles?

Nate Lyles has a few offers already. "Northwestern, Notre Dame, Illinois, Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan are the teams that have offered me so far. Michigan is another school that is recruiting me hard. They didn't offer me at their junior day but said they wanted to see my tape and a few of my games before offering me. Stanford is another school that is recruiting me hard."

Lyles says he has been in contact with a number of coaches over the summer. "Mainly Notre Dame, Illinois, Northwestern and Michigan. I'm going to take an official visit to Notre Dame for a game this season. I might take a trip up to Wisconsin for a game and maybe one to Stanford too."

The Irish remain high on his list. "Yes sir, they are very high on my list. I've been keeping in contact with Coach Mattison regularly. I might attend a fall practice there as well. I like Notre Dame quite a bit."

Some official visits will likely come during his season. "I know I will visit Notre Dame during the season and maybe Michigan too. I will probably take my official visit to Illinois after the season. I plan to take all five of my visits."

Lyles says he just wants to make sure he feels comfortable at a school before deciding. "I want to go to a school where I feel comfortable with the coaching staff and the players. I'm going to major in psychology and go into counseling after college so that will be important. I'm also looking for a stable coaching staff."

Lyles says he is open right now but did give me a list of some of the schools that stand out now. "Notre Dame, Northwestern, Michigan, Stanford and Virginia are probably the schools that stand out now."

Comments. The Irish are in good shape with Lyles. I think they will be very tough to beat when he makes his decision. He's a great kid and a good fit for Notre Dame.
