Video: Phil Jurkovec satisfied at The Opening

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Sophomore quarterback Phil Jurkovec hoped to use The Opening Regional on Saturday to punch his ticket to the finals in Oregon. That didn’t happen but he was satisfied with his performance.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Notre Dame target Phil Jurkovec ranks among the best quarterbacks in the Class of 2018.

On Saturday at The Opening Regional, Jurkovec hoped to rise above the other 50 quarterbacks all competing for an invitation to the finals in Oregon. That didn’t happen as Penn State commitment Sean Clifford, a 2017 prospect, earned the position’s MVP award.

But Jurkovec headed home to Pennsylvania feeling good about how he tested and performed during the event.

“I thought overall I did well throwing and testing,” he said. “The 40 time was bad but I didn't really know the technique and everything and haven't run it ever before. I thought that I did well in the one on ones. There were definitely drills that I can use to get better.”

Jurkovec was among the most accurate quarterbacks throughout the day and showed he has the ability to deliver strikes even while on the move. Top Stories
