The 6-foot, 172-pounder from South High School in Westerville, Ohio made the short trip to James McCann Stadium at rival North High School to compete in The Opening Regional.

He opened the event by posting a 4.45-second time in the 40-yard dash, a 36-inch vertical jump and a 4.0-second shuttle run. His 114.24 rating was good for sixth overall.

“Eveyrthing went pretty well,” Gill said. “I think I did pretty well testing. I could have done better but I’m pretty happy with myself.”

Gill then went out and showcased his skills on the field.

Boston College offered late last week, pushing Gill’s total to 19.

“It’s real tough right now,” Gill said. “I think about it a lot because the more schools I get offers to I’ll check out or I’ll talk to coaches and everything and I’m more interested.”

That leaves Gill in a holding pattern as he tries to identify a handful of favorites. That’s a process he expects to take quite a bit of time.

Notre Dame offered earlier this spring and the Irish have remained in close contact. Mike Elston visited the school last week and the Irish hope to get Gill on campus this summer.

“Coach Elston, I’ve talked to him a couple times on the phone and then it was nice to see him in person,” Gill said. “He just basically told me to stay in touch with him. They want to try and build a relationship up a little more. He wants me to get on campus soon and that’s something I’m definitely interested in. Once I get on campus I’ll get to see more what it’s like to be more at Notre Dame.” Top Stories
