One of the top overall performers at Irish Invasion was the nation's No. 15-ranked athlete, C.J. Holmes.
Holmes’ athleticism was on display early during the warm-up portion of the event when the 6-foot, 190-pound athlete preformed a series of backflips. During the competition, Holmes shined as a versatile and explosive playmaker that stood out among a talented group of skill prospects.
Holmes tweeted emojis on Saturday night that indicated he could be close to pulling the trigger on a commitment.
“I would be lying if I said I didn’t think about committing,” Holmes said. “But at the same time I won’t rush into anything. Any decision made will have been reflected on heavily.”
Holmes and his mother arrived on campus Thursday and departed Sunday morning.
“Through various meetings and presentations, Notre Dame made it very clear that they offer the best of both worlds on and off the field,” Holmes said. “And that made a very heavy impression on me.”
Holmes is scheduled to visit Penn State on July 16 and Alabama on July 18, though a Notre Dame commitment prior to those visits can’t be discounted.
“My feeling leaving campus was that it was an indescribable feeling,” Holmes said. “It was just special.”
