Following last weekend’s visit to Notre Dame, four-star cornerback Latavious Brini of Miami (Fla.) Hialeah Gardens has a top three and is eyeing a decision date.
The Irish did their best to stick in that mix.
“Campus was huge, and it was beautiful,” Brini said. “The coaches were great. Coach (Todd) Lyght is awesome and I liked working with him and getting to know him better. I loved it.”
The 6-foot, 200-pound defensive back didn’t work out due to a hernia injury. That increased the meaning of Notre Dame’s recruiting pitch.
“You never know what can happen and you need to be prepared,” Brini said. “After football there is still so much you can accomplish if you go to Notre Dame because of the strong academics.”
Entering the weekend, Georgia and Miami were No. 1 and 2, respectively, in Brini’s recruitment. Notre Dame did enough to enter the conversation.
“It’s up there now,” Brini said. “Georgia still leads. But that’s my top three.”
Brini plans to announce a decision on Twitter on July 31.
Other offers on the table include Alabama, Florida State, LSU and USC.
“There’s not really a meaning why I picked the date but I’m ready to make a decision,” Brini said.
When asked what will be the defining factors of his decision, Brini said one word.
Brini plans to make return visits to Georgia and Miami before his decision date arrives. Despite a July decision on deck, Brini still plans to take visits in the fall.
“I’m talking my officials,” Brini said. “So I’ll be back to Notre Dame.”
