Notre Dame has quietly but surely crept up the list for Scout300 four-star linebacker Justin Foster of Shelby (N.C.) Crest.
“Notre Dame is definitely in the mix, pretty high on the list,” Foster said. “I’m as much as interested in them as Clemson and Tennessee.”
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound outside linebacker visited Notre Dame for Irish Invasion back in June.
“It’s very different from a lot of schools,” Foster said. “It’s very religious and a great school. It’s a great atmosphere, and they have a large fan base with good support. I felt relaxed and at home when I visited for Irish Invasion.”
Linebacker coach and recruiting coordinator Mike Elston is heading the recruitment of Foster for the Irish.
“I have a really good relationship with the coaches,” Foster said. “They see me in the rush position at linebacker.”
Foster plans to commit sometime in the fall after taking official visits to his top schools. Clemson, Notre Dame and Tennessee make up his top three.
“I will probably commit during the middle of the season to one of those three schools,” Foster said. “Just where I feel comfortable and see myself calling a place the next four years home. I want a school with good engineering and a defense where I can rush.”
