Notre Dame in the NFL: Week 4

Will Fuller scored twice for the Texans, including a game-winner via special teams, while Kyle Rudolph snagged another touchdown. Irish Illustrated takes you around the NFL in Week 4 from a Notre Dame perspective.

Arizona: WR Michael Floyd, TE Troy Niklas

Floyd made three catches for 36 yards and a touchdown in Arizona’s 17-13 loss to the Rams. Carson Palmer hit Floyd from five yards out in the second quarter to make it a 10-10 game. Niklas made the active roster but didn’t register any statistics. The Cardinals are now 1-3 this season.

Baltimore: OT Ronnie Stanley, DE Kapron Lewis-Moore

Stanley, who’s the starting left tackle for the Ravens, didn’t make the active roster Sunday while battling a foot injury. Baltimore (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season, a 28-27 setback to the Raiders. Lewis-Moore remains on the practice squad.

Buffalo: S Robert Blanton

Blanton had two tackles for the Bills (2-2) in a 16-0 win over New England.

Carolina: LS J.J. Jansen

Jansen had plenty of opportunity to snap, albeit in a loss. Carolina fell to 1-3 in a 48-33 defeat to Atlanta.

Dallas: WR Chris Brown, OL Zack Martin, LB Jaylon Smith

Martin started at right guard for Dallas (3-1) in its 24-17 win over the 49ers. Smith is on the reserve/non-football injury list, meaning he’ll miss at least the first six weeks for sure. Brown, an undrafted free agent signing, is on injured reserve for the season after breaking his foot in preseason practice.

Detroit: RB Theo Riddick, WR Golden Tate, TJ Jones

Riddick led Detroit (1-3) with 11 carries for 31 yards in a 17-14 loss to the Bears. He added four catches for another 27 yards. Tate had just one catch for one yard on four targets. Jones is on the Lions practice squad.

Houston: WR Will Fuller, OL Nick Martin

Fuller led the Texans (3-1) with seven receptions for 81 yards and one touchdown on nine targets in a 27-20 win over Tennessee. But it was his play on special teams that proved decisive. Fuller broke a 20-20 tie with 56 seconds left in the game on a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown. His 5-yard receiving touchdown gave Houston a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Martin is on injured reserve after ankle surgery in the preseason.

Indianapolis: DB Matthias Farley

Farley made the active roster but didn’t register a tackle for Indianapolis (1-3) in a 30-27 loss to Jacksonville.

Jacksonville: DL Sheldon Day, TE Ben Koyack

Day had one tackle and one tackle-for-loss as Jacksonville (1-3) picked up its first win with a 30-27 victory over the Colts in London. Koyack didn’t make the active game day roster for the second straight week.

Pittsburgh moved to 3-1 with a 43-14 demolition of Kansas City. Tuitt helped with one tackle and a forced fumble. Harris came in during the game at right tackle for an injured Marcus Gilbert.

San Diego: LB Manti Te’o, OL Chris Watt

Te’o is on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending torn Achilles in Week 3. Watt (knee) is on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, which means he’ll miss the first six weeks of the season at a minimum. San Diego slipped to 1-3 with a 35-34 loss to the Saints.

San Francisco: DL Ian Williams

Williams will miss the entire season after an offseason ankle injury. San Fransisco is 1-3 after a 24-17 loss to the Cowboys.
