Commit Recap: Adams sets record

David Adams will go down as one of the best ever at Pittsburgh Central Catholic after breaking the all-time tackles record. Meanwhile, Avery Davis turned in another hyper-efficient outing.

David Adams won’t soon be forgotten at Pittsburgh Central Catholic.
Adams set the school record for career tackles during the Vikings’ 41-0 win over Norwin on Friday. The record had been held by Nate Williams, who made 277 tackles in high school before an All-Big Ten career at Northwestern.
“It feels amazing,” Adams said. “There have been a lot of greats to come through Central. I’m honored.”
In three years as the team’s starting middle linebacker, Adams has recorded 290 tackles with at least two more games left to play. The Vikings are 8-1 on the year and have one regular season contest remaining and at least one playoff game.
The Vikings played 16 games last season on the way to winning a state title. A similar run could help Adams put that career tackles record out of reach for the foreseeable future.
“I feel like I’ve worked very hard to make it happen,” he said. “My teammates have put me in a great position to make plays, so I’m very thankful.”
