Notre Dame offers Louisville commit

Notre Dame defensive coordinator Mike Elko offered three-star defensive back Tre Norwood on Tuesday. Norwood had committed to Louisville in July.

Three-star defensive back Tre Norwood talked with new Notre Dame defensive coordinator Mike Elko on Tuesday.

That conversation led to a scholarship offer and a scheduled meeting on Thursday when the contact period begins.

“He was saying that they were looking for a corner and the head coach liked my film," Norwood said. "They felt like I would be a good fit for them."

Elko and defensive backs coach Todd Lyght have plans to visit with Norwood on Thursday at Northside High School in Fort Smith, Ark.

During that meeting a potential visit to Notre Dame could be scheduled.

“I'm taking interest in it and will discuss that when they come down Thursday,” Norwood said. ranks Norwood as the 114th best cornerback in the country.

As a senior, Norwood recorded 35 tackles, two interceptions and broke up six passes. He was named first team all-state and all-7A conference. He also played quarterback at Northside. Top Stories
