B.J. Foster can now count Notre Dame among his already elite offer list.
Irish coaches formalized their entrance into the sweepstakes for Foster, a four-star athlete from Angleton, Texas, on Thursday by putting a scholarship on the table. They join LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, TCU, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and several others in doing so.
Foster’s offer list bolsters an already strong recruiting resume.
Scout.com ranks the 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect as the No. 14 overall player in its latest rankings. He’s the top-ranked athlete, with either safety or running back being options at the college level.
Right now Foster is one spot outside five-star status and well within that range as the list grows throughout the next year.
“Foster is a force on both sides of the football and he could be an explosive offensive weapon or a dominating defensive presence once he arrives n the college scene,” said Greg Powers, a Texas-based national recruiting analyst for Scout.com. “As an offensive player he is able to gash defenses as a running back and cash in long plays. He has great top end speed. His most upside could very well be on the defensive side of the football. He has great height as a defensive back and is rangy. His frame will fill out in time and he could be a tremendous deep safety, but he also has the ability to lock down receivers with his one-on-one coverage skills.”
