Irish eye sophomore offensive tackle

Notre Dame has already identified sophomore offensive tackle Pierce Quick and the Trussville, Ala., standout hopes to visit South Bend. Quick’s recruitment is heating up as he landed an offer from Auburn over the weekend.

Sophomore tackle Pierce Quick was invited to Notre Dame’s upcoming junior day but the 6-foot-5, 280-pounder is unable to attend.

Instead, he’ll compete at the Under Armour All-American Camp with the intentions of making his way to South Bend later in the year.

“I definitely would love to go check it out,” Quick said. “Notre Dame is a great school and has great tradition and I love that about it. A Notre Dame offer truly would be a blessing. South Bend is a beautiful place from what I hear and I would love to get up there sometime.”

Quick attended a junior day at Memphis on Saturday then made his way to Auburn on Sunday. He left with an offer from the Tigers.

UAB, Jacksonville State and Memphis previously offered and Quick has drawn interest from Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Duke, LSU, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Quick, who earned the offensive lineman MVP award at the Elite Georgia Showcase earlier this month, is being recruited to all over the offensive line.

“I'm able to play tackle, guard and center and the coaches really say it depends on what they’re needing when I get there,” he said. “I'm supposed to grow about another inch or two and if that happens I'll be a tackle.”

Quick has plans to visit Alabama on Feb. 25, Clemson on March 4, LSU on March 18 and he’ll compete in the Atlanta Under Armour camp on April 2.
