Offer Alert: Jashaun Corbin

Running back offers have been few and far between with four-star prospect Markese Stepp already on board. But the Irish continue to pursue speed and versatility. Jashaun Corbin brings both.

Class of 2018
Position: Running back
Top offers: Florida, Florida State, Michigan

Speed isn’t much of a problem for Corbin, who’s a real spark out of the backfield in both the running and passing games. Corbin had 1,022 yards and 11 touchdowns on 107 carries in just eight games a junior. He added another 619 yards and seven touchdowns on 25 receptions. Film (linked below) shows the versatility to line up in the backfield or split out wide. Corbin flashes enough top speed to outrun the angles of pursuing defenders. And yet there’s a dose of physicality as well. Corbin isn’t a small speedster. He also displays patience in letting his blocks get set up before exploding to the edge of a defense.

Just the type of school it is. Their coaches. The type of program it is speaks for itself. The academics. Get to play on TV guaranteed every week. Just everything about Notre Dame. Always been a fan of Notre Dame." – Corbin after landing his Notre Dame offer

It’s already a crowded field for Corbin with in-state programs Florida and Florida State on board, plus some other SEC programs and national contenders. Corbin has yet to release a top group and appears genuinely wide open in terms of possible fits. That’s good news for the Irish as they try to work their way into the mix. He told Irish Illustrated on Tuesday morning that he has “a lot of interest in Notre Dame” when he confirmed the offer via text.

Autry Denson

One. Notre Dame already has a commitment from four-star running back Markese Stepp. Finding a complement with some speed and ability in the passing game remains a priority, even if the net at running back isn’t very wide. Autry Denson doesn’t necessarily need another running back in the Class of 2018. But the right one with the desired skill set wouldn’t be a bad thing. Corbin falls into the group of possibilities.
