Steven Faucheux (Scout)

Midwest pass rusher in for Blue-Gold

One of Ohio’s top ‘19 defensive ends will visit Notre Dame this weekend in Steven Faucheux. The 6-foot-4 ½, 265-pound athlete will meet with the Irish staff and defensive line coach Mike Elston.

Defensive lineman Steven Faucheux already holds offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Miami (Ohio), Iowa State, Kentucky, Maryland, Louisville and Tulane.

Notre Dame could be next now that the 6-foot-4 ½, 265-pound athlete will be in South Bend for the Blue-Gold Game on Saturday. The visit will be the next in a string of Midwest tours.

“I visited a couple of schools last summer and fall; Tulane, Cincinnati, Kentucky, and Michigan,” Faucheux said. “Since January, I have visited Auburn, Louisville, Michigan State, Indiana, Penn State and Ohio State.”

The highly-touted defensive lineman has expressed interest in Notre Dame. Mike Elston has taken notice and reciprocated by doing homework on the powerful athlete.

“Coach (Mike) Elston visited my school a couple of times, I think, starting in December and my coach has talked to him a few times about me since,” Faucheux said. “It's a school that I had told my coach I was interested in and coach Elston asked him if I would be interested in attending.”

Faucheux has a set list of factors he’ll consider throughout his growing recruitment.

“I'm looking for a program that will feel like a family while I'm there and after,” Faucheux said. “I want coaches who will challenge me as a player and help me reach my potential. Also want a school that will prepare me for life after football and I want to go to a school that will compete for championships.”

According to Faucheux, Notre Dame checks off many important boxes.

“I think Notre Dame seems like a special place to be a football player and a student and I am glad to have the chance to talk to the coaches and see the campus and facilities myself,” Faucheux said. “I'm not just choosing a school, I'm adopting a family and preparing myself for life after football.

“ND just seems like it's a special place in the end I will go where I feel the best fit is but for anyone a chance to just attend ND is a big opportunity and I would definitely have to give it a lot of thought.”

Other ‘19 recruits who we have confirmed they will be on campus for the Blue-Gold Game include quarterback Sam Johnson, defensive end Spencer Brown, running back Kenny McIntosh and cornerback Art Herndon.

Defensive end Beau Robbins of Carmel, Ind., will be on campus for an unofficial visit on Friday.
