Steven Faucheux was one of the biggest names in the class of 2019 at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday. The four-star recruit has been watched closely by the Irish since his sophomore season, which led to the Blue-Gold Game look.
“It was a good trip,” Faucheux said. “The campus was beautiful and the atmosphere at the game was great.”
With several priority recruits from the class of 2018 also on campus, Faucheux wasn’t certain if he would get to spend time with the Irish coaching staff.
“I didn't get to talk to them much at all, but I kind of expected that would happen with everything going on and I'm just a 2019,” Faucheux said. “Coach (Mike) Elston sat with me for a bit at lunch but Kevin Austin was also at our table and he was talking with both of us. He asked about my last track meet and said that he'll be visiting my high school probably later this week.”
Still, Faucheux is interested in Notre Dame and looks forward to future contact from the Irish staff.
“If I were fortunate enough to get an offer from ND, I would definitely give it a lot of thought and would want to learn more about the staff and program,” Faucheux said. “I'm not really ranking schools in my mind yet, but they're one of small group that I'm hoping to get an offer from.”
Faucheux landed an offer from Tennessee on Wednesday, April 26, adding to his list that includes; Cincinnati, Florida, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (Ohio), and Tulane.
Along with his growing offer list, many schools from the Big 10 are showing interest in Faucheux, including Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan State.
The rising sophomore is known as one of the top 2019 defensive linemen in the Midwest and should have an offer list of over 20 schools by this time next year.
