Grixby Hearing From Irish

Omaha, NE's very own Cortney Grixby's senior season has just started. As a highly touted prospect with 4.4 speed, Courtney is shouldering responsibilities on both sides of the ball for his team. We talked to Courtney to discuss his recruiting and season to see how he is doing.

Playing quarterback and wide receiver, Cortney Grixby and Central High School met their first opponent last Friday, but unfortunately, they didn't come out victorious. "Our first game was Friday night," he said. "We played Creighton Prep, the number four team in the state, now number three. We just couldn't get on track. The stats were pretty even, but they got on top early and we just couldn't get ourselves back."

With such athleticism on both sides of the ball, Notre Dame has been in contact with Cortney. Coach McDonnell called yesterday," he said. "We had a casual conversation about football and the school."

With Notre Dame now calling and Cortney seriously interested, we wondered if he was planning a visit for a home game in South Bend. "We are strongly considering it," he said. I am talking to my mom right now and we're trying to find a date that comes up."

With such attention though, Cortney is taking it easy and not rushing things. "I have basketball scholarships too," he said. "So I am deciding on both sports. Right now I am wide open."

As for now, Cortney just has some simple goals for himself this year. "I want to improve my passing stats, play my assignment better, and work on my footwork," he said. "I'm focusing on a lot of technique."

Comments: Cortney seems genuinely interested in Notre Dame. For him to want to visit during a home game says something, especially when he has football and basketball scholarships to deal with. The key in Courtney might lay after his official visit if he decides to take one. Top Stories
