Walton Will Wait

Chicago's own Marquis Walton, the 6-2 280lb defensive tackle from Hubbard HS is really enjoying football right now. His team is 3-0 and they are looking to win another championship. The mild mannered, and nonchalant mammoth defensive tackle is starting to hear from a lot of schools, and Notre Dame is among the schools giving him attention.

Things are going really well for Marquis Walton. His team is undefeated, and recruiting is starting to pick up for him. "I have offers from Illinois, Northwestern, and Oregon right now" said Walton. "I think Michigan is close to offering too. I'm hearing from a lot of different schools though. Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Iowa have been sending me stuff. Miami has sent some stuff too" he continued.

With his season going so well, and recruiting heating up, when will Walton start to narrow things down. "I'm not sure when I'll narrow things down. Probably after the season. Right now my top 5 are Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Michigan, Iowa, and Illinois in no particular order. I want to wait to see which schools will offer me. I probably won't even visit schools until after the season.

Though choosing a school is not on his mind right now, he does know what he's looking for in a school. "My visits will determine everything. How comfortable I am with the coaches and team means a lot to me. My mom will visit with me and what she thinks means a lot to me so the schools she likes will have a major impact on [my decision]. Early playing as a freshmen is important too. I want to play as soon as possible.

Look out for Walton and his Hubbard team who play their rival Dunbar HS this week. It should be a great game.

Comments: If Hubbard HS sounds familiar to some of you recruiniks, it's the same HS that current Irish recruit Nate Lyles attends. Will the Irish offer Walton is the big question right now. Notre Dame is in on a host of quality DTs at the moment (Pressley, Okam, Richard etc), a position the Irish have had a hard time recruiting in the past. Much more will not be known about Walton until he takes a few visits, and a few more teams offer him.
