At 5'11 180lbs (4.4), Waco TX own, Marcus Walker has been a hot commodity at his CB position. Through three games, Walker has 8 tackles and no interceptions. "Teams don't throw the ball my way. That's why I never get interceptions" said Walker. "I can't intercept the ball if it's on the other side of the field" he continued.
Though it's still early in the season, Walker's ability to shutdown the opposing receiver has helped his Waco HS team beat three quality opponents. His team has beaten both Abiline HS who was ranked in the top ten at the time, and Converse Judson, who was ranked #2 in the state at the time. The third win came against Waco's crosstown rival Waco University. "We've had a few tough games" said Walker. "All of the games have been pretty close. but we were able to pull out wins."
Walker's season has been progressing nicely. Recruiting is starting to pick up for Walker as well. "Right now, I'm hearing from Texas A&M, Oklahoma, LSU, Nebraska, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, and Missouri to name a few."
Is Notre Dame still in the equation? "I still like Notre Dame but I really haven't heard anything from them in a while. I don't know what's up. They said they were close to offering me during the summer, then they dissappeared. I don't know what happened."
It does not appear that Walker willd decide any time soon. "I'm not sure when I'll decide. I know I'm not going to drag it out until signing day, but it probably will be after my season. I'm going to take all my visits, and choose from there. I have one visit set up so far, and that's to Oklahoma on December 12th. Other than that, I'm not sure."
Comments: Walker was a great kid to talk to and I think Notre Dame can get back in this race if they offered. However, it appears they may have a few other recruits rated ahead of Walker. Walker has a 3.2 GPA, and 860 SAT score so grades may not be the issue. IrishEyes will keep in touch with Walker in case things change.
