Taylor A Wanted Commodity

Woodlands High School's Samson Taylor has been making himself into a wanted commodity. After running a 4.34, 40 in the Nike Camp this past summer, College Coaches have been vying for his talents and with fall recruiting in full swing, things haven't let up one bit. Irish Eyes caught up with the Texas native to discuss his situation.

After testing off the charts, Coaches have been calling Samson consistently and Notre Dame is one of them. "They've (Notre Dame) just called me twice of the past three weeks," Samson said. "I've been talking to Coach Preston."

With all this attention and football season having already started, Irish Eyes asked if he was ready to make a commitment anytime soon. "I'm just getting offers, but haven't decided," he said. "I'm wide open right now."

Still without an offer from Notre Dame, we wondered if he has lost any interest in Notre Dame. "No, I am still interested," he said.

With Notre Dame still in mind, Samson is looking to take an official visit to Notre Dame. "I haven't scheduled one yet," he said. "I'm sitting down and looking at the dates that I can go."

With his team already 2-0 for the season, Samson has been doing well for himself in the stats department. "In the first game, I ran have 83 yds in 12 carries and 2 TDs," he said. "The second, I got 117 yds with 17 carries and 1 rushing TD and 1 reception TD. It's not much, because we have a really good defense and we were always starting around their 40 yd line. I don't really get a chance to break for some big gains."

Comments: A lot of coaches are interested in Samson Taylor right now. He fields about six calls a night from coaches right now and a different six for each night of the week. Then he gets calls from the media. Irish Eyes feels he's on the verge of getting offered. If he does look for a ND to be in the final mix.
