Richard Set for Visit

Destrehan, LA prospect Darryl Richard is set to visit Notre Dame this weekend for the USC game. The 6-4, 285-pound Richard has had a good start to his senior season and is excited about his visit to Notre Dame this weekend.

Darryl Richard has had a nice start to his senior season. "My team is 4-2 right now," said Richard. "I'm playing pretty well. I have 47 tackles, six sacks and 13 tackles for loss right now."

Richard said he's all set to make his visit. "It's just me going. I'm looking forward to it. I want to check out the behind the scenes stuff and see what life is like there for a normal person and not a student athlete. I want to meet the coaches and Coach Willingham. I watched the game on Saturday and that was a real good game. I was impressed because Coach Willingham addressed the problems and they came out and ran the ball really well on them. That impressed me."

Don't expect a commitment from Richard after his visit. "I don't think I want to jump on anything just yet. I think I want to take my visits before I decide so I know I'm making the best decision."

Richard has one other visit set up so far. "I'm visiting Stanford on January 9th. I haven't set up any other visits yet. I will probably do that after this weekend."

The last time we spoke to Richard, he was waiting for Miami to offer. The Hurricanes hadn't seen his tape yet. "That has changed," said Richard of Miami offering. "They've offered me now. I will probably take a visit there now."

Richard is still looking at some other schools as well. "I'm still looking at LSU, Tulane, Colorado and UCLA as well. I will probably take a visit to Colorado. I'm pretty open on my last one."

Comments: We think Richard will be very impressed with Notre Dame and Willingham. Miami is a threat for the Irish and I think Miami will be the team the Irish battle for Richard. I've heard very good things about his potential so we'll see what happens. Hopefully he gets to witness an Irish victory.
