Hayward, CA defensive tackle Phillip Mbakogu just returned from his first official visit in South Bend, Indiana this weekend. The 6'2", 260lb was able to catch up with Phillip to find that he enjoyed the trip.

Finally being able to catch up with Phillip Mbakogu, Irish Eyes asked him what he thought of his visit. "I enjoyed it very much," he said. "The campus was beautiful. The fans are crazy. They really love Irish Football."

To learn more about the school, we wondered who his host was. "Victor Abriamiri," he said. "He talked to me about the program, school, and everything. It was great."

And what did he think about sitting down with Coach Willingham? "It felt good," he said. "I heard a lot about him. He's got the program in the right direction. I know they are having a hard time right now, but they are gonna turn the program around and be good."

So what is next for Phillip? "I'm just gonna take everything as it comes. I'm just trying to get educated on everything. I just wanna get educated on all the schools."

Comments: Phillip is still very early in his recruiting process right now. He's still considering LSU, Cal, Washington State, Oregon, and Colorado to name a few, but Irish fans should be happy to know that ND was his first visit, even after missing the plane to his first scheduled official visit to South Bend. Unfortunately, everyone will have to wait on signing day to learn who he chooses.
