Catching Anthony Vernaglia after practice at home, he was able to give his thought about the trip. "It was great," he said. "Except for the game of course, but otherwise it was perfect."
Who was his host and what did they talk about? "Chris Frome," he said. "He's from Hart High School. We had a good time. He said he loved Coach Willingham. He had nothing but good things to say about it. I got a good feeling going there. I'm glad I'm going there.
Before the game, Anthony and the other recruits were escorted into the game and were treated to a little surprise. "They had the shoulder pads, helmet, jersey, which was cool, because they said that I can be number 3 next year," he said. "And I know the history. I am very excited about it."
With such a big responsibility wearing such a coveted jersey, Anthony is more then up to the challenge he will face. "See I didn't know about the history until after when I talked to the equipment manager," he confessed. "So, I'm up for it. I'll keep it alive. It's just even more incentive."
The day after the game, Anthony got a chance to sit down with Coach Willingham, and we asked what they talked about. "He (Coach Willingham) said that he's happy I'm coming. He said, he's gonna send me both play books. I take that as a compliment."
With his recruiting process over, Anthony's focus is all about his senior season right now. "The season is going great," he said. "We are undefeated. We have a real close team and a lot of chemistry. We all worked really hard to get here. It's nice to see we're finally getting some respect."
