Though Ferrine has been a crucial part of his team's offense, most teams are recruiting him as a cornerback. "I have two interceptions so far this year. It should probably be more, but most teams can't pass on us. I never get the ball thrown my way. A lot of that has to do with our defensive line. They put so much pressure on the quarterback that most times he can't get a pass off."
Although Ferrine keeps most of his attention on the remainder of his season, recruiting is starting to play a role in his life. Ferrine has been hearing from numerous schools, but at the moment four stick out. "I like Notre Dame, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Penn State. I am going to visit all four of those schools." Notre Dame is the only school in his four that has yet to offer him a scholarship. However, that could change soon. "I talked to Coach Simmons last week, and he really want's me to set up a visit [to Notre Dame]. He told me Notre Dame was close to offering me, and I know that means a lot when they offer a visit."
Ferrine has been watching the Irish season very closely. Despite the losing record for Notre Dame, he claims it will not affect his decision. "Notre Dame is going through some rough times on the field right now. But it's okay. They're just in a down cycle. It happens to all teams. Every year can't be perfect, but I know that Coach Willingham is going to get things straight. He really knows what he's doing and it is just going to take some time to get the right players in place, and for those players to learn his system."
Expect Ferrine to set up his visits soon since he is trying to make a decision shortly. "I want to decide by the end of December so I have to start setting up my visits. My coach has been really good with helping me with my recruiting, and he's going to help me set up my visits. I know I will visit my top four, and I may take a a fifth visit but I'm not sure yet. I want to get everything over with before the New Year."
Comments: Notre Dame really seems to coming on strong for Ferrine. He has good height for CB (6'1) and along with his top four, Pitt and Georgia Tech have also offered him. He really seems to like Notre Dame. If Notre Dame offers, expect Ferrine to take an official visit to South Bend. IrishEyes will keep you updated.
