Franklin Okam is having a solid senior season so far for Lake Highlands high school. "We're 4-4 right now, we play in a tough conference," said Okam. "I really don't know my stats. I'd say I have around five sacks and 45-50 tackles so far this season."
Okam has set one official visit so far. "I'm going to Oklahoma on December 18th. That is the only visit I have scheduled. I plan to wait until after my season is over to schedule more visits."
The Irish are keeping in constant contact with Okam through recruiting. "I talk to them every week. I usually talk to Coach Mattison, but I got a call from Coach Willingham this week. We just talked about my season, he was making sure I was keeping my grades up, and we talked about my injury, he was making sure I was alright."
Notre Dame remains on his list as of now. "They are still on my list of about 10 schools. Texas, A&M, Oklahoma State, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Ohio State are the schools I'm considering right now, besides Oklahoma."
We asked Okam if the season the Irish are having has had an impact on how he feels about Notre Dame. "I would think losing games would hurt, but it really hasn't mattered to me. I don't think it's changed my feelings. They are still in the same spot on my list."
Will he be taking a visit to Notre Dame? "I'd say that's a good possibility."
Comments: The Irish are still in the race for Okam. We do feel the Irish might be slipping a bit. The first task at hand is to schedule a visit. Hopefully the Irish staff can accomplish that soon.
