Patterson Receives Offer From Irish

Florissant, MO is home to safety prospect, Nick Patterson. The 6-2, 200-pound safety prospect has a number of offers and recently found an offer from the Irish in the mail. Where do the Irish stand with Patterson?

Nick Patterson was recently surprised with an offer in the mail from Notre Dame. "It finally came," said Patterson of the offer. "I was excited about that. I went down for the Notre Dame camp this summer. We had a 7-on-7 passing tournament the day before and I played 10 games that day. When I got to Notre Dame my legs were tired and hurting so I didn't do as well as I wanted. I did well in all the drills but they said they were a little concerned about my times. I just had a bad day and had tired legs."

Patterson also says he feels honored to receive and offer from Notre Dame. "There's just something about Notre Dame. It's one of the most prestigous schools in the country. It's an honor to receive a scholarship offer from Notre Dame. Not everybody gets and offer and not everyone gets into Notre Dame."

Patterson did receive some offers from attending camps, like the one he received after attending Ohio State camp after the Notre Dame camp. "Ohio State did offer me after their camp. I ran better there. I ran a 4.52 and a 4.54 when I went to their camp. They offered me right after the camp."

So have a number of other schools at this point. "Ohio State, Missouri, Wisconsin, Indiana, Notre Dame, Iowa State and Vanderbilt have offered me."

We asked Patterson if the Irish might have come in too late in the process. "I wouldn't say they came in too late. Coach Walters told me to just be patient. He kept calling me the entire time. It's never too late. It's not as early as I would've liked, but it's not too late."

Patterson has set some of his official visits already. "Right now, I have an official visit to Ohio State on December 5th and Missouri set for December 12. I'm setting up a visit to Wisconsin as well."

Will he likely visit Notre Dame at this point? "I'm not sure. I would like to but I only have five official visits. I'm looking at four or five schools for those last two visits. I will have to weigh everything and see who would be a good fit for the final two visits. I do think it would be a wonderful place to visit."

Comments: We expect the Irish to get one of his official visits. Did the Irish enter the picture too late? Only time will tell that. I do think they have some ground to make up, however. We'll keep an eye on Nick.
