Thomas Will Visit Notre Dame

As in every recruiting campaign, new names come seemingly out of nowhere. Last season, Dwight Stephenson jumped into the Irish equation late in the recruiting year. This season it's 6'4 335lb Jaimie Thomas, an offensive lineman from powerhouse Bishop McDevitt HS in Harrisburg PA.

"Coach Willingham and Coach Simmons have been calling me a lot lately" said Jaimie Thomas. "They want me to come to visit so I'm visiting Notre Dame on January 16th" he continued.

With his senior season over, Thomas can focus on recruiting now. Besides Notre Dame, he's being recruited by a few other big time colleges around the land. "I'm hearing from Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, NC State, and North Carolina as well as Notre Dame now." Thomas has visits set up to Maryland on Dec. 5th, Tennessee on Dec. 12th, North Carolina on January 9th.

Thomas had a dominating senior season. No one was able to beat him, as Thomas never surrendered a sack through ten games. In fact, his entire offensive line only gave up two sacks total all season. "Our line was pretty dominating. We take pride in not letting the defense touch our QB. Only giving up two sacks as a unit all year says alot about us. It's a real statement."

Though admittedly not as dominating on the defensive side of the ball, Thomas also played a little defensive tackle. "Yea, I played defensive tackle too" Thomas laughed. "I didn't get to play too much though. I only had eight tackles for the year" he said continuing to laugh. "I mostly just played offensive line."

Offensive line is where his college future will be obviously. Though his staggering eight tackles are impressive, most schools have their minds set on offense. "Most schools are recruiting me to play right tackle. I think I can play guard or tackle, but I've mostly played right and left tackle in highschool."

Thomas wants to take all of his visits before he decides. "I think I'll take all my visits, then decide sometime after that."

Comments: Looks like Notre Dame did a good job of identifying Thomas before it was too late. He's obviously interested in Notre Dame since he's already decided to visit. Thomas was a lot of fun to talk to. He's very down to earth, and has a good sense of humor. IrishEyes will keep in touch with Thomas and update you on his other visits. Top Stories
