Richard Set to Visit Miami

With his season complete, Darryl Richard can begin to concentrate more on recruiting. The 6'4 285lb defensive tackle from Louisiana sat down to update IrishEyes on his recruiting season thus far.

"Not much has really changed" said Darryl Richard. "I'm still wide open. It's Notre Dame, Miami, UCLA, Stanford and LSU." Richard does not plan on making a decision anytime soon either. He has an official visit set up with Miami on December 12th, and will probably set up a few more visits as well. "I'm looking to decide probably in mid-January. By that time I'll have visited a few schools."

Richard has been getting a lot of attention lately from various schools around the nation. Coaches have been ringing his phone off the hook lately. Has Notre Dame been in contact? "Coach Willingham called the other day but I wasn't here. He talked to my mother for a while. He calls every week but I usually miss his calls."

Richard finished his season with 80 tackles, with 20 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He modestly said, "I had an okay season. I could've done a lot better I think." Hopefully, when it's all said and done, he'll be putting up numbers like that in an Irish uniform.

Comments: We believe that Richard is very wide open at this point. He seems to really like Notre Dame, and really enjoyed his visit to South Bend back in October. The Miami visit on the 12th looms large still. We believe it may come down to a Notre Dame/Miami race for Richard's services. Top Stories
