Chris Vaughn appears to be a new target on the Irish radar. Vaughn had an impressive senior season and schools have taken notice. "I don't know my stats exactly," said Vaughn. "I think I had 19 catches, for 550 yards, and 14 touchdowns."
A number of schools have been interested in Vaughn with quite a few offering. "I've been to Iowa, Boston College and Michigan State on official visits. I liked them all. Each one had something that I liked. At Iowa, I liked the coaching staff. Michigan State has a good offense for me. Boston College had excellent academics. I liked all three. I really don't have a leader out of those three."
The Irish also appear interested in Vaughn. "They've been calling my coach. I don't think they have my number yet. They recently called and asked for tape. They should've gotten it today. We are looking at setting up a visit for January 23rd. Nothing is set in stone yet."
We asked Vaughn if he'd been interested in Notre Dame if they offered. "Yes, I'd be very interested. They are America's football team. They have great academics. It's a great combination."
Vaughn says he's fully qualifed and also has a visit set with UCLA on January 16th. We asked Vaughn to describe his game. "I don't know. Some people around here say I'm kind of like Terrell Owens and Randy Moss. I don't know. I'm 6-4, 210. I ran a 4.37 at Michigan State camp."
Comments: Vaughn appears to have the perfect combination of speed and size. He hasn't been a household name, but he also plays in a state not known for football. He's an intriguing prospect. We'll keep and eye on him to see if the Irish offer him. He's a very nice kid that would fit in well at Notre Dame.
