Wolke Sets Visit to Notre Dame

Smyrna, Tennessee quarterback David Wolke is a new name on the Irish radar. The 6-2, 190-pound quarterback has received a lot of attention lately from a number of schools including Notre Dame. Wolke has set an official visit to Notre Dame. How much interest does he have in Notre Dame?

David Wolke is a new name in recruiting for Irish fans. He had a solid senior season and the Irish coaches have taken notice. "My team finished 9-3," said Wolke. "I threw for 1,900 yards and 18 touchdowns. I also had 10 touchdowns rushing."

Wolke recently returned from his first official visit to Wake Forest. "I liked it a lot. I liked the coaches and players. I felt I fit in there really well."

The Irish recently visited Wolke at his school. "Coach Diedrick was here today. He came by the school. I really liked him. He seemed like a really good guy. We set up a visit to Notre Dame on January 23rd. They haven't offered me yet. He said it might come just before the visit, or more likely during the visit."

Wolke says he has a host of offers already. "Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, Syracuse. Those are most of them."

We asked Wolke if he is interested in Notre Dame. "I'd say very. I want to take a visit there. I really like their tradition. I'd be very interested if they offered me."

Wolke says he plans to set the rest of his visits sometime in early January.

Comments: Wolke appears to be a solid prospect at quarterback. The Irish must have a strong interest if they've scheduled a visit already. We'll keep an eye on him to see if the Irish offer.
