Thaxton Still Unchanged

Middle linebacker is a position the Irish really need to fill with a quality player in this recruiting class. Thaxton would definitely fit the bill. Is he still interested in the Irish?

Not much has really changed for Jae Thaxton, the 6'2 220lb linebacker from Hart County GA. "Right now I'm just taking it easy" said Thaxton. "I'm just going to take my visits and see how things turn out. I'll decide from my visits" he continued.

Are the Irish still in the mix? "Yea, Notre Dame is still in my top five. My top five is Florida State, Miami, Georgia, LSU, and Notre Dame." Notre Dame still calls every week to keep in touch with Thaxton as well. "I talked to Coach Miles last week. He's a nice guy. He tells me about [Notre Dame] and everything they have to offer. I guess I'll just see everything when I go [to South Bend].

Thaxton has already made a trip to Florida State and takes a visit to Georgia this upcoming weekend. He visits Notre Dame Jan. 23rd, and LSU Jan. 30th. His visits will determine where he goes to school. "Wherever I feel most comfortable on my visits is where I'll go. That's the biggest thing for me is just feeling comfortable with the school, the team, and the coaches."

Comments: It's hard to read Thaxton. He's a very well spoken and polite kid, but he's also very nonchalant when it comes to recruiting. We do believe that the Irish are still very much in the race. If he's impressed with Notre Dame on his visit, the Irish will have as good of a chance as anyone else. We will keep touch with Thaxton, and find out about his Georgia visit this weekend.
