Are Irish Road Worthy?

The IrishEyes.Com NewsService

CHESTNUT HILL, MA (IE) – Here's how the IrishEyes staff sees tomorrow's Notre Dame at Boston College game developing.

MARK ALLEN, "Fan's Perspective" Contributor – I believe the Boston College game can be tougher than Tennessee.  This is rapidly becoming a huge rivalry.  If Notre Dame jumps out early, it wins.  If the Irish allow the early BC spurt, it will be Nebraska and Texas A&M revisited.  This will be a true test of Carlyle Holiday's ability and I believe he will pass the test.  NOTRE DAME, 27-21.

TOM BECK, "Beck's Beat" – Boston College is pumped for Notre Dame and has momentum after crushing common foe Pittsburgh last week.  However, Irish's rushing game and improved passing attack are just a wee bit too much for BC.  It will be scary for ND on this Halloween weekend, but Irish in a squeaker.  NOTRE DAME, 27-24.

F. RICHARD CICCONE, "The EyeGlass" – Over the last decade, the Irish don't win on the road as underdogs.  BOSTON COLLEGE, 30-27.   (Editor's Note: Statistics support Mr. Ciccone's point.  Since 1995, ND is 3-9 straight up when a dog on the road. Boston College is a three-point favorite tomorrow.)

CHRIS POOL, Pool Recruiting, "The Dean of Notre Dame Recruiting" – Notre Dame wasn't ready for prime time against the Huskers but they'll be ready for this game.  Nick Setta kicks the winning field goal. NOTRE DAME, 27-24.

ALAN TIEULI, IrishEyes Managing Editor – Boston College said all the right things this week. "Notre Dame is America's Team." "Holiday reminds us of Michael Vick." "We know we're not their biggest rival." Unfortunately, the Irish under the lights are not worthy of such respect.  Under Davie, ND has flamed out the last seven times it has played at night, dating back to 1997.  None have been competitive.  This one will be, but the Irish will fly home under .500.  BOSTON COLLEGE, 21-16.

JOE TYBOR, IrishEyes Founder – Boston College had its fun last week slamming poor Pittsburgh, 45-7.  Playing at night before a joyous Boston Irish crowd, the Eagles will be too giddy to beat the Irish.  Carlyle Holiday is too talented a quarterback and even though you can expect a couple of more turnovers from the youngster, the football Irish will win, giving Bob Davie haters more pause that he will be able to survive the season.  NOTRE DAME, 28-24.
