Georgia Wide Receiver Likes Irish

College Park, GA is home to Carlos Thomas. The 6-1, 185-pound athlete is known as a speedster and a two-sport standout. Will the Irish have a shot at this impressive athlete?

Carlos Thomas had an impressive junior season. "I think I had 650 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns," said Thomas. "I don't know my defensive stats. It doesn't matter to me which side of the ball I'm on."

Thomas is known for his speed and that has brought him a lot of attention already. "I was timed at 4.32 at Georgia Tech. I don't have any offers yet. Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida, Vandy, Ole Miss, N.C. State, Clemson, Arkansas, Auburn, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Georgia and Georgia Tech are all writing me."

Georgia Tech might be the team to beat because Carlos has a brother (Lavon)already at Georgia Tech. "Yeah, I like Tech. I feel pretty comfortable there. I'm open though. I want to look at a lot of schools. I plan to take all five of my visits. I don't really have a favorite."

How does he feel about Notre Dame? "Oh yeah, I'm interested in Notre Dame. It's a good school and good program. I like them."

Carlos is also a standout on the baseball diamond. "Last year I hit .627 and stole 41 bases. I play center and leadoff. I've been to three camps with the Montreal Expos, but I would go with football first. I love football."

Thomas also says he has a 2.7 in his core and plans to take the test in March.

Comments: Thomas appears wide open. I've heard he is a player who has excellent speed. He says he doesn't care if he plays wide receiver or corner. It's very early so it's hard to know which players the Irish will recruit. We'll keep an eye on Thomas though.
