Brooklyn Linebacker Interested in Irish

Brooklyn Poly Prep is home to linebacker Paul Anderson. The 6-2, 210-pound junior already has two offers with many other schools in the running. Do the Irish have a chance to sign Anderson?

Paul Anderson comes from a traditional power in Poly Prep. He played both offense and defense at Poly. "I really don't remember my stats," said Anderson. "I played outside linebacker and I think I had 68 tackles. On offense, all I know is I touched the ball 24 times and score nine touchdowns. I really don't know more than that."

Anderson, who says he runs 4.5 in the 40, has a few offers already. "Boston College and Duke have offered me. Virginia, Ohio State, Maryland, Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan are recruiting me the hardest right now."

We asked Anderson if he planned to attend any camps this summer. "I plan to attend camps at all those schools I mentioned. I'll probably just stop by for a day."

Does Anderson have a strong interest in Notre Dame? "Yeah, definitely. I like the tradition there. It's a great school."

The Brooklyn native should not have a problem qualifying. "I know I have a B average or higher. I have not taken my test yet. Academics will be very important in my decision. My parents think that is very important. I also want to play for a team that goes to a bowl game every year--I think that would be pretty cool."

Don't expect an early decision from Anderson. "I think I'll wait until after my season before I make a decision. I'll take some visits after my season."

Comments: Poly Prep sends a lot of student to Notre Dame. J.W. Jordan and Marcus Wilson were also from Poly Prep. The Irish usually have a good shot at any player at Prep. Anderson seems very interested. We'll have to wait and see if he attends camp. We think he will. Top Stories
