Gene Delledonne had an impressive junior season. "I threw for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns in nine games," said Delledonne. "We run kind of a spread offense where we throw about 20-25 times a game and run about 35 times a game."
Plenty of schools are interested, but so far he has yet to receive his first offer. "I don't have offers yet. A lot of schools have said they just want to see me in person and will offer me then."
Delledonne has a busy summer planned. I was just at Maryland yesterday. I plan to attend camp there. I also plan to attend camp at North Carolina State, Nebraska, Florida, definitely Notre Dame and Ohio State. I hope to make it to all of them for a day."
We asked Delledonne if he had some favorites at this point. "Basically those schools I just mentioned. They are the schools I'm considering the most."
The Irish appear to be one of his top schools. "They are definitely one of my top choices. I went to their summer camp last year and I'll go again this year. I loved the campus there. I was a fan of theirs growing up."
An early decision might be on the horizon for Gene. "If I have some nice offers over the summer I might decide before my senior season. I'd like to do that, but that depends on what offers I have."
Academics in another area Gene excels. "I think I have a 3.65 in my core. I haven't taken a test yet. Academics will be important in my decision. Also, I'll have to really like the coaches. I'll take a look at the depth charts and see where I fit in. I'll also have to like the atmosphere there."
Comments: It's a good sign that Gene has already been to Notre Dame camp and plans to go again. The Irish will probably take just one quarterback so the chase at quarterback should be interesting. We expect Gene to be in the race.
