Ohio Linebacker Interested in Irish

St. Ignatius high school in Cleveland, OH is home to linebacker Jim Ramella. The 6-3, 235-pound linebacker had an impressive junior season and college coaches have taken notice.

Jim Ramella had an impressive junior season. "I had around 90 tackles and 6 sacks," said Ramella. "I also played tight end. I think I caught around 12 passes. I don't know the yardage. I think I had four touchdowns."

Ramella is waiting for his first offer. "I don't have one yet. Michigan State, Ohio State, Boston College, Pittsburgh and Iowa send the most mail so far."

The Irish are also a school high on his list. "I went to Notre Dame this past weekend. It was really nice. They showed me the facilities and I liked it a lot there. They told me they liked me at linebacker. They said they wanted to see my film and I needed to take the test before they could offer me. I really liked the academics there. They really stressed that part of it. When I went to Ohio State, we talked about the academics, but they didn't stress it as much as they did at Notre Dame. I also like their graduation percentage."

Ramella appears to be a solid student with a 3.4 g.p.a.

We asked Ramella when he plans to decide. "I think there is some advantages and some disadvantages to committing early. I'm going to talk to some of the seniors that just committed and ask their opinion on it. Right now I'm most interested in Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State and Boston College. We'll see what happens and if they offer me early.

Comments: Ramella appears pretty interested in Notre Dame. Nobody has offered yet so we'll have to wait and see how his recruiting moves along. We'll keep an eye on him.
