Reggie Smith put on quite a show during his junior year. "I played a number of positions," said Smith. "I played some running back, wide receiver and free safety. I rushed for 964 yards. I had 504 yards receiving. I scored 22 touchdowns, and I also had nine interceptions on the year."
So what is Smith's best position? "I don't really know. Some coaches think I'd make a great wide receiver. Some think I'd be a great defensive back. I like playing defense, but I'm not opposed to playing offense."
Smith already has three offers under his belt. "I have offers from Oklahoma, Texas A&M and K-State. Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Nebraska, Colorado, schools like that have been sending me mail."
Is Smith interested in Notre Dame? "Yeah, they've been sending me handwritten stuff. I didn't think they would recruit me. I'm definitely interested in Notre Dame."
The Oklahoma native also plans on having a busy summer. "I'm going to try to get to a bunch of one-day camps. I thinking about going to Notre Dame, out to the West Coast for USC and UCLA, Oklahoma. I don't know where I'm going yet. I'll decide that soon."
Smith doesn't plan to make an early decision. "I plan to tak all my visits. I'll commit when it feels right. Education is very important to me. The environment at the schools is also important. I'll also look at the football program. Distance won't be a factor. I'll go wherever it feels right."
Comments: Smith said he had a 3.7 as his overall g.p.a. He is taking the test again as he scored a 16 the first time. He should be one of the top players in the Midwest and should end up with a lot of offers. The Irish will likely recruit him heavily so keep an eye on him.
