McCoy is Wide Open

Rico McCoy, the 6'2 212lb linebacker from Washington D.C. is starting to get a lot of attention. After a great junior season, McCoy is ready to step up his senior season, and show everyone what the fuss is all about.

Rico McCoy has a long list of schools recruiting him. He's getting tons of letters everyday from the who's who of big time east coast college football programs after recording 120 tackles, five sacks, and three forced fumbles in his junior football campaign. "I'm getting a lot of hand written letters from a lot of schools" said McCoy. "There's Miami, Ohio State, Pitt, Boston College, Maryland, Syracuse, Wisconsin, Virginia, Penn State. I could go on" McCoy said jokingly.

To go along with the dozens of schools contacting him, McCoy also has a few offers. "Maryland, Pitt, Boston College, and Syracuse have all offered so far. I'm pretty much open right now, but I do favor the schools that have offered me."

Has Notre Dame been in contact and is McCoy interested in Notre Dame? "[Notre Dame] sent me a few letters a little earlier in the year, but nothing recently. I'd be interested in Notre Dame if they were interested in me. I'm not a closed minded person. I'd like to check them out."

It appears that McCoy is going to take his time in the process. He has no real plans on deciding early. "I'll probably wait until the end of the season to decide on a school. I think I'm going to go to Miami's camp this summer, and probably to the Nike Camp at Penn State too. I'm just going to take my time with the whole process."

McCoy currently has a 2.6 GPA, and is scheduled to take the SAT this weekend.

Comments: The teams that have offered McCoy obviously have a bit of a head start on the others, even though I think McCoy likes Miami and Ohio State a lot as well. Notre Dame could jump in the race with more contact, but there is no danger of McCoy deciding anytime soon according to him. Top Stories
