At 6-5, 230-pounds and able to run the 40 in 4.8, Jason Lamb makes for a very inviting target at tight end. Last year as a junior for Berkner high school, Lamb hauled in 11 catches for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Does he have any offers? "No, not yet," said Lamb. "I have been receiving mail from Arkansas, Iowa, Texas A&M, Baylor, Notre Dame, and Georgia." Are you receiving a lot of interest from Notre Dame? "Yes, I'm getting handwritten letters and Coach Mattison has been emailing me."
Does Lamb have any interest in the Irish? "Yes, I attended the Junior Day and liked what I saw. I'm really impressed with their academics and their tradition." Are academics the most important factor in deciding on a school? "Yes, academics are the most important factor in choosing my college."
Lamb attended SMU's summer camp last year and plans on attending camps at SMU, Baylor, Texas A&M, and TCU this summer. Does he plan of committing early or does he want to take his visits? "To tell you the truth, I haven't even thought about that yet."
Irish Eyes asked Lamb if distance would be a factor in choosing a school. "No, it's not a concern for me, but my parents want me to stay close to home."
Who are the leaders right now? "I don't have a clear-cut leader, but I am interested in Notre Dame."
Comments: Lamb told me he has a 3.7 grade point average scored a 1060 on the SAT. He is a well-spoken young man who is very open to the recruiting process right now. When the recruiting season starts to heat up, we'll have more of an idea where Lamb is leaning. However, his parents want him to stay close to home, so stay tuned.
