Los Angeles Wide Receiver Has First Offer

Azusa, California wide receiver Jesse Canada, 6'3" and 190 lbs., already has an offer from Pittsburgh. Is he interested in the Irish?

"I don't remember what my stats were last year," said Canada. "My best 40 time was 4.42 which was timed at my high school".

Has he heard from Notre Dame? "Yeah, I've received a few letters from them. They'll definitely be a thought. Mostly I've been getting mail from Pittsburgh, Boston College and Michigan."

At the moment, Canada claims his top 5 schools are Pitt, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC and Oregon and he's in no hurry to make a decision. "I'll probably take all of my official visits before I decide."

What's going to be the biggest factor in picking a school? "I'm going to look at how I fit in the system, whether it's primarily a passing school or a running school, stuff like that. I'm also going to look at how the team gets along; the relationships between the players and coaches."

Canada plans to attend the Nike Camp at Stanford this summer. He's already attended a junior day at UCLA and plans to attend summer camps at Oregon State and possibly Pittsburgh.

With a 3.09 core grade point average, Canada shouldn't have any trouble qualifying. He recently took the SAT and is waiting for the results.

Comments: Canada seems to be pretty open right now. He may favor Pitt slightly due to the fact that they are his only offer for the moment. We'll see if the Irish pick up the recruiting pace as the year goes on.
