Offensive Line Prospect Hopes to Hear from Irish

Columbus, Ga. is the home of offensive tackle Marlon Davis. Davis is drawing interest from schools all over the southeast. Does Notre Dame have a shot at landing the big lineman? Irish Eyes found out.

Offensive tackle is a must get position in the next recruiting class and the 6-5, 310 pound Marlon Davis would be an ideal fit. However, the Irish have yet to show interest in Davis.

"Right now, I'm getting mail from Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn," said Davis. Notre Dame has not contacted you? "No, not yet, but I would be interested in hearing from them."

What about Notre Dame appeals to Davis? "The two biggest things are their academics and winning tradition."

While Davis is still waiting to hear from the Irish, he is checking out other schools. "I attended Auburn's junior day and I plan to visit Georgia for their spring game. I'm also going to attend the Nike Camp in May."

What is the biggest factor in picking your school? "Academics are really the most important thing. I plan on majoring in pre-med and biology, so the school will have to be strong in that area. It will have to have a good football program, too."

What schools are Thomas most interested in? "Right now, it is Georgia and Alabama. My parents want me to go to one of the SEC schools, but in the end they'll let me decide where I want to go." Has he set a timeframe to decide? "I'm going to decide as early as I can."

Comments: With Davis' combination of size and smarts (he has a 3.85 GPA); he would seem to be a Notre Dame type player. We'll have to wait and see if he appears on Notre Dame's radar in the near future. It might have to be soon or the Irish will have too much ground to make up on the southern schools. Top Stories
