5-10,175-pound tailback/cornerback Darrick Jackson had an impressive junior campaign rushing for over 1700 yards and 21 touchdowns. The Southern California native will play on both sides of the ball in his senior season. "I will play both tailback and cornerback this year," said Jackson "In college, I will play either position depending on what the team needs."
When we asked Darrick what schools have been sending recruiting information, he said "Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, UCLA and Arizona have all sent information."
Although he has no offers yet, Darrick said,"I have gotten handwritten letters from Coach Mattison. Notre Dame also sent me information on their school, graduation rates and an invitation to their summer camp."Does he have interest in Notre Dame? "Oh yes, but I will probably go to the Arizona summer camp with a couple of teammates because it easier to do financially."
Darrick has also been timed in the 40 meters at 4.48 seconds. "I run the 100 and 200 meters for the track team. By the time I'm done with high school, I'm going to break Reggie Bush's 100 meter record."
Jackson says he plans to take his time with his decision. "I plan to take 3 or 4 visits then make my decision. My uncle who is fighting in Iraq, my Mother and my Coach will help me out with the process. Leaving home would not be a problem."
Darrick has accumulated a 3.2 core G.P.A. and plans to take the SAT this summer.
Comments:: Darrick is an extremely likeable guy who was quick to point out his successes on the football field could have only acheived with the help of his offensive line.He is a team guy that can play multiple "athlete" positions including the punt and kick return teams. He seems genuinely interesed in the Irish and very wide- open at this time.
