Schoenhoft Enjoys Unofficial Visit

Ohio quarterback prospect Rob Shoenhoft recently visited Notre Dame on an unnofficial visit. We spoke with Schoenhoft to get his thoughts on his visit. What did he think of Notre Dame? What did the Irish coaches tell him about the quarterback situation? Will he be camping at Notre Dame? Where do the Irish stand with Schoenhoft?

Rob Schoenhoft already has nice offers and is out looking for more. "I have offers from Maryland, Duke, Cincinnati, Miami of Ohio, Iowa, Michigan State, Vanderbilt, Indiana and Akron so far," Schoenhoft said.

The 6-6, 235-pound quarterback recently returned from an unofficial visit to Notre Dame. "I loved it, it was amazing," he said. "I love the coaches and their attitude. I loved the campus. It's just beautiful. I loved what they plan to do with the facilities there. My parents loved it there, too."

So what did the coaches tell Schoenhoft about the quarterback situation? "They told me they are down to about five quarterbacks they are looking at and I'm one of them. They want to see all of us in person working out and then they'd make a decision from there."

Will Schoenhoft be attending camp then? "Yes, I will. I will be going to their camp and the Adidas camp there as well."

Schoenhoft will have a busy camp schedule as well. "I know I'm going to the Elite camp in Iowa City. I'll probably go to Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State as well."

The family is also putting some miles on the car recently and that will continue this weekend. "I'm on spring break right now so we're out looking at schools. I've been to Notre Dame, Purdue, Indiana and Miami of Ohio. This Saturday I'm going to Ohio State and on Sunday I'm going to Michigan State."

Why the rush? "I want to commit early--at least that's the plan. Sometime before my season hopefully."

Does he have any favorites right now? "Definitely Notre Dame and probably Iowa. I'm also looking forward to seeing Michigan State and Ohio State this weekend."

Comments: The Irish made a big impression on Rob and his family. They should be in great shape if he's the top guy on their list. I've seen his film. He's a player and he moves very well for a big guy. I like him as a quarterback.
