Illinois Linebacker Chris Jeske Likes Irish

Joliet Catholic high school in Joliet, Ill. always has at least one top prospect and this year is no different. Linebacker Chris Jeske will be another in a long line of Joliet Catholic stars to move on to sign division 1 scholarships. Jeske already has four offers under his belt. Do the Irish have a shot at Jeske?

At 6-1, 227-pounds, Chris Jeske is known as a fierce hitter. "I had 150 tackles and 12 sacks last year," Jeske said. "I recently ran a 4.62 at the Don Bebbe house of speed."

A number of schools are interested in Jeske. "I have offers from Wisconsin, Northwestern, Kansas and UCLA right now. Pretty much everyone in the Big 10 is writing me, Notre Dame, there's a lot."

Wisconsin is rumored to be Jeske's leader so we asked him about that. "I like Wisconsin. I'm not sure they lead, but I like them. I was born in Milwaukee. I grew up a Packer fan living in Joliet."

Another team high on his list is Notre Dame according to Jeske. "I like Coach Mattison a lot. He's a real good guy. It's a great school with good tradition. I went there for their junior day in February and I talked to the coaches there. I really liked it there."

Jeske said he also visited Notre Dame last fall for the first time. "I went there for the USC game for the first time. I've never seen anything like that in my life. The atmosphere was amazing. They lost, but what I remember most is how the fans stood and cheered them even after a bad loss. Their fans really love the Irish."

Jeske says he doesn't plan to make a summer decision. "I really don't have a timeframe for making a decision. I'll probably take a couple of visits before I decide. It'll will probably be sometime after my season. I just want to fit in with the team. The coaching staff will be important. The academics will also be important."

Speaking of academics, Jeske reports a 4.27 g.p.a on a 4.0 scale. He has taken his test, but has yet to receive his score."

Comments: The Irish appear to be in the race for Jeske. He seems to like Notre Dame, but we do believe Wisconsin is the team to beat. We'll keep an eye on Jeske because we think the Irish will be in the race with an offer. Top Stories
