Washington Back Has Three Offers

The secret about Pasco, Wash. running back Leon Jackson is starting to get out. The 6-2, 205-pound speedster had an impressive junior season and already has three offers to show for it. Who has offered Jackson? Are the Irish interested in Jackson? Is he interested in Notre Dame? Jackson spoke with Irish Eyes to give us the latest on his recruitment.

Leon Jackson had an impressive junior season. "I rushed for 1,812 yards and 38 touchdowns," said Jackson. "I also played some safety and had three interceptions. Most schools are recruiting me as a running back."

His impressive season has garnered him three offers already. "Washington, Nebraska and Oregon State have offered me already. Idaho and Washington State are recruiting me pretty hard as well. Washing and Nebraska are recruiting me the hardest."

Jackson has also had his first conversation with a college coach. "Coach Wagner from Nebraska called. I liked him a lot. I know that Idaho is supposed to stop by my school next week. Washington is coming and Coach Wagner said he'd be by soon."

Has Notre Dame been keeping in contact with Jackson? "They have sort of. They send me stuff now and again, but not like the others."

Jackson said he'd welcome any attention from Notre Dame. "You better believe it," was his response when asked if he's interested in Notre Dame. "It's Notre Dame, come on."

Don't expect a decision any time soon from Jackson. "I plan to take all five of my visits. I want to get a feel for the schools and the education there. I wouldn't mind leaving home. I'm pretty much open to anyone right now, but Nebraska, Washington, Washington State, Idaho and Notre Dame would probably be my top schools."

We've been curious about this lately so we asked Jackson if he reads the internet recruiting sites to follow recruiting and team sites like Irish Eyes. "Oh yeah, I get on any website I can find. I always look at it. I just like to see where I'm at and find out about other players. It's fun to follow."

Jackson also said he has around a 2.83 in his overall g.p.a. He is scheduled to take his test in June.

Comments: Jackson seems very interested in the Irish, but the Irish haven't shown a lot of interest in him as of yet. That might change after May evaluation. We'll keep an eye on him to see if Notre Dame picks up the action with him.
