"I've mainly been hearing from schools on the West Coast," said Patrick Henderson. "I'd say that Washington State, Cal, Utah, Colorado State and Fresno State are recruiting the hardest right now."
Has he heard from the Irish? "I received an invitation to go to their summer camp. I have to check my financial situation. If it is okay with my parents, I'd love to go to their camp. I've really had my eye on them the past few seasons."
Henderson grew up a Cal fan and has admitted that he'd love to play in the Pac 10. "I would love to play anywhere, but pretty much any school in the Pac 10 would be great."
Has he set a timeframe for his decision? "I'd like to take all of my visits and see what's out there before I make a commitment."
What's he looking for in his school of choice? "Well of course the scholarship situation. Location will be important. I also am going to consider the playing situation with the football team."
Henderson's top five at the moment include (in no particular order) Cal, Washington State, UCLA, Fresno State and Oregon State.
Patrick has a 3.1 GPA. He took the SAT earlier this year, to see where he stood, and scored a 770. However, he's taking SAT prep classes and plans to retake the test. He's scheduled to take the ACT on June 12.
Comments: The Irish don't seem to be heavily pursuing Henderson, but they did invite him to their summer camp. Academics may be a problem as far as the Irish are concerned given his SAT score, but he's working hard to improve in that area. We'll have to see if he makes it to Notre Dame's camp, but my guess is that he'll end up playing somewhere on the West Coast.
